100 miles and 5%!

April 6, 2022 Uncategorized 3 Comments

Day 9: April 6, 2022
AT mile 93.5 to 110.4
Hiked: 16.9 miles / 27.2 km
AT miles hiked to date: 5.0%

The rain stopped in the late afternoon yesterday and over night we heard some loud gusts of wind so we found that the tent was pretty dry for an early pack up and start this morning. Apart from a couple of sharp ascents, the going was easier today and we put some miles behind us quickly in the morning.

About 10.30am we crested Mt Albert and climbed the fire lookout tower to take in the view.

Here is the mark to show that we have completed 100 miles (160 km) on the Appalachian Trail.

The weather forecast predicted rain and thunderstorms this afternoon so we didn’t spend long over lunch and made it to our camp-site before 3.30. With the easier track we completed 17 miles and had a very early dinner, but haven’t felt more than a few drops of rain as yet.

Day 8: Holed up

Another cold day

100 miles! Well done! Loving your updates and pics. Can you mix in some details about the gear you are using?
