Day 22, In hot water

January 21, 2026

January 21, 2026
Hanmer Springs
Hiked today: 0.0 km

We’ve had a successful zero day in all respects. After breakfast, I headed off to my appointment, had the xrays and was glad to hear there was no fracture. I have bought a splint to help it recover. While I was busy with that, Rob and Pete enjoyed a soak in the natural hot springs.

Rob and I had checked the weather forecast for the next week and it isn’t looking good. After a few days of rain,  the rivers may be impassable so we have decided to skip down the track a bit and go back in at the start of Two Thumbs Track. This involves a couple of bus rides and a shuttle, so for the next 2 rainy days we will be travelling but out of the rain.

Pete took the bus to Christchurch this afternoon,  and will fly back to Hobart tomorrow. We loved having him join us and appreciate him spending the time and money. Thanks again Pete (and Andra!)
