Last night we were cosy in the lodge room while about 2 or 3 inches of snow fell. This morning we awoke to a Christmas card setting, still cold but not snowing or raining. We debated whether to start hiking again, but opted to stay another night. Today was forecast for more rain and snow during the day but tomorrow is supposed to be fine.
Around 10am OG and Rob walked 0.3 miles back to the nearby Forestry campground to pack up our two tents. We had left them there overnight as we had already pitched them last night before the people at Drakes ad kindly offered us the free room. As you can see by the state of the tent this morning we would have had an uncomfortable night!
So today has been spent relaxing by the wood stove in the lodge lounge, enjoying great meals at the lodge restaurant. But we are keen to do our last leg tomorrow.
Just received the message (3.30pm Wed) that you made it safely so HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS !!!
Also have enjoyed OG’s blog posts. So glad you stayed in the lodge 2 nights and weren’t woken with a heavy weight of snow on your faces. Wonderful that you were allowed the two nights free, too.
What a superb experience all told!
Kris
