Day 116: more hills, more views
The day started with a long downhill trail through the forests.
We went through a sheltered spot where we saw some truly massive red cedars and Douglas fir trees – it was quite awesome to see such ancient giants.
After crossing a fast flowing river (thankfully there was a bridge) we did another well graded but long climb. Once again we were rewarded with impressive mountain views.
We camped a few miles on from the summit in a grassy tentsite with views all around. There was even a thunderbox toilet with a view.
26.7 miles / 43km today, and we passed the 3000km mark.

A toilet with a view, very cool. Those tall trees are majestic!
You look like a pair of halflings against those glorious old trees. Remember Bilbo’s warning:
“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
Stay safe young hobbits!
Wonderful efforts, wonderful views!
