Day 24: be prepared!
After a comfortable night and a big breakfast we visited the grocery store and the post office and sorted out our resupply packages. We hitched back to the trail – the lady who gave us the lift has a son who is keen to hike the PCT sometime. Then we started a steep but steady ascent of Mt Baden Powell, renamed after the guy who founded the Boy Scout movement. We found a camp site among the snow drifts at 8500′ and expect a cold night. But we have just finished a hearty dinner and have a great view over the lowlands below.Tomorrow we go up to the summit at 9390′ then down the other side like the proverbial bear.
Wow! That’s all, just wow.
Such a climb, camping in the snow and more climbing up and down tomorrow.
I am in awe.
When first my eyes ‘fell’ on this photo I thought you were one tent among several!
