After a reasonable sleep despite the jetlag, we said goodbye to our tiny hotel room and took an Uber to a cafe close to the centre of Paris. Thanks to the time difference, by 8 am Paris time, we were ready for a good feed and were not disappointed.  The special brekky deal included freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, classic Parisienne pastries, and mashed avocado on toast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All fuelled up, we then headed out on foot to do a little exploring around the Luxembourg Gardens before the camping store opened. When it did, we bought a canister of gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was then only a short walk to the train station to catch a couple of fast trains south to the French-Spanish  border (5.5h). Everyone has been very helpful, and, although it has been fun to try the occasional French phrases, we really haven’t needed to speak much of the language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our air bnb at Hendaye is a lovely cottage with views over the nearby river (Spain is on the other side) and we had dinner at a restaurant nearby. The Basque cuisine featured produce from the local district and has set a very high standard against which we will rate future dining experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
