July 20, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As promised, we had rain overnight, but it stopped in the early hours, allowing us to pack up and get going in the misty morning. Down on the cliffs by the ocean, despite the heavy fog, we could see a long strip of beautiful beach with wild seas and surf crashing in. The path took us down to Loe Bar Beach, where there were signs warning us to not swim under any circumstances due to strong undercurrents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then it was back up, eventually to a road winding through the pretty town of Porthleven. Here, the rain started and we were able to catch the bus to Penzance, ending our coastal path journey. (Originally, we planned to keep hiking on the coastal path to Penzance, but with considerable rain forecast for the day, we opted for the bus.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accommodation in Penzance was pretty limited as it is the start of the British school holidays. We managed to find a reasonably priced guest house but it was a minimum 3 night stay. This will give us time to rest up after the 200km of hiking we have done in the last six and a bit days. We have enjoyed this section of the South West Coast Path, but as we don’t have enough time to finish the whole path, we have decided to stop at this southerly point, and try to organise a change of air ticket back to Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
