July 18, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were a couple of short showers of rain overnight but we had clear blue skies yet again this morning. Despite some poor track signage and some stretches of overgrown track, the path was not too bad. The poorly maintained section yesterday set a high benchmark for bad maintenance and we would be hard pressed to find a worse track. Nevertheless, the long stems of blackberry sometimes at head height reach out and grab our clothes and skin. It is lucky we both wear glasses so our eyes are mostly protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was another ferry ride in a small boat and a delicious but rather expensive lunch. Unfortunately, in these tiny towns there is very little choice for food. We had passed a few villages and it was after 1pm when we arrived at The Fat Apple Cafe so we were going to eat no matter the cost!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From The Fat Apple, we hit the coastline again. This time we were close to the shore and spotted about half a dozen seals bobbing up and down in the water, whiskered noses up in the air! They were so comical that we sat and watched them for a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we approached the next town of Coverack, we saw a pod of dolphins porpoising. We stopped at a grocery store for food – flapjacks for breakfast, a couple of apples to supplement tonight’s freeze-dried meal, and cup-a-soups for tomorrow’s dinner. We had planned to camp at a YHA place in town but it seemed to be closed this season, so plodded on to another campsite which seems to have everything we need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"July 18, 2024 There were a couple of short showers of rain overnight but we had clear blue skies yet again this morning.
