Lovely lakes

July 5, 2024 1 Comment

Day 21, Jul 4, 2024
From Refuge d’Aygues Cluses to Lac de l’Oule
11.5 km hiked, 38.6% complete

Having knocked off around half of this section’s hike yesterday, we had quite a cruisy day with the climbs well graded and the downhill steep but a good path. The weather is fabulous, sunny, blue skies and an occasional gentle breeze. Although it is midweek, we are passing plenty of hikers and day walkers all enjoying the sunshine.

Last night was possibly our highest altitude sleep, and with a further 400m climb, we were looking at snow topped peaks and beautiful clear mountain lakes.

We took plenty of breaks today, knowing that we only had a short way to go and Ros was feeling suddenly very fatigued and a bit nauseated. We hope it passes quickly and are glad that both today and tomorrow should be easy walking.

We have found a great campsite near a big lake and after a cool dip we are relaxing in some shade before putting up the tent.

Camping at a higher altitude

A milkshake at last!
