Down the mountain for a rest
Day 15, Jun 28, 2024
From Lac d’Anglas to Gourette
2.9 km hiked, 27.9% complete
Our night by the lake was uneventful. Apart from a few spots of rain, the weather remained fair, defying the previous forecast of thunderstorms.
We only had an hour and a half of downhill walking to get to the ski resort of Gourette. There, we enjoyed a late breakfast of coffee/chocolate, bread and jam. Being off-season now, many of the shops and facilities are closed, but our accommodation and a few restaurants/bars remain open.
Our plan is to rest up for the rest of today and tomorrow, when the weather is supposed to be rainy. Certainly all that we can see out of the window in our room is a dense mist. Getting laundry washed was high on our list of priorities and we have handed over a bag of dirty laundry to be cleaned and hope to get it back soon so we have something to wear for dinner.
We have also had phone reception and have been able to call home for news as well as chat to Peter who is now in Bordeaux. It seems that Peter’s leg has not improved and he is now looking at his options, which may include cutting his trip short and heading home.

I think you may end up putting on some weight by the end of the trip, judging by all the fabulous places you are able to stop and enjoy.
