Zero miles hiked<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our first consistently wet day has beautifully coincided with a planned rest day. With a break in the weather this morning, we hurried out to Walmart, just a mile up the road, where we were able to buy all the things needed for our resupply. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get a replacement for my food bag, which is fraying into holes and may not last too many more tree hangs. The helpful lady from our motel reception kindly came and gave us a lift back to the motel and we spent the afternoon resting, reading, and keeping dry while it stormed outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russell, a hiker that started the trail with us at the Mexican border, met with us and we had dinner at the burger joint just next to our motel. We hope to catch up with him again in the next section or maybe at our next town stop in 5 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another advantage of being in a motel is that we could check my sleep pad for holes. It had seemed to be a bit deflated some mornings, but with careful submersion in the bath, there were no tell-tale bubble streams. Now I just hope it will dry by morning when we head out of town again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
