Train to Lordsburg
At 10pm last night it was all aboard the train for Lordsburg, across California, Arizona and into New Mexico.

We had booked a “roomette” which was a pretty cramped 2 bunk room which converted later to 2 seats.

When the conductor asked us where we going, and we said “Lordsburg”, she said “Aha, in the middle of nowhere”. True enough, there is not much in Lordsburg. Not even a platform to get out on.

But there is a handful of highway motels, and a couple of grocery stores, so we have stocked up on some last minute items. We have also met some fellow CDT hikers (Low Branch, Cash, Damien, Pepa, Young Fabio). Some of them have already done what we are about to do – tomorrow we get a shuttle to the starting point on the Mexican border and start walking back to Lordsburg. We expect the 84 miles will take about 4.5 days.
