Day 19: Zero day in Kearney

April 13, 2023 Uncategorized No Comments

No AZT miles today! We spent a lot of the day in the comfort of our air-conditioned motel room. Of course, we enjoyed showers, clean laundry and town food.

We have also been able to catch up on blogs and correspondence, and do some planning for the next section.

Last night, we met Gary (not O.G.), who is a local character who does a lot for AZT through-hikers. We were at the local pizza shop and he asked us where we came from, etc. He then launched into an accurate rendition of Waltzing Matilda. I was able to decode some of the Australian isms for him (jumbuck, squatter, etc). He will be able to take us to the trail head early tomorrow.
