Day 6: Mt Wrightson

March 31, 2023 Uncategorized No Comments

Day 6: March 30, 2023
AZT mile 65.5 to 85.1
Hiked today: 19.6 miles / 31.5 km
AZT ascents today: 974m , descents: 685m
AZT hiked to date: 10.6%

Well, the morning trail was hard – starting off on a rocky dirt road, we climbed steeply for nearly 5 miles and then, thankfully, branched off onto regular trail again. The relief was short lived as the trail itself continued in a steep climb up to the saddle of Mt Wrightson. Onwards then was mostly downhill and we found a nice spot near a flowing creek for lunch. It would have been great if not for the blasting cold wind which has followed us most of the day.

Only 734 miles to go!

We met a number of other hikers today – one group of 3 – Peaches, Geo and Hot Rod – who we leap frogged passing each other for most of the day.

We also met Reset who we previously met at Patagonia campsite and who, as I write this, has just hiked in to pitch his tent near where we are camped for the night.

Tonight’s camp
