This morning we were heading up to the top of Roan Mtn through a pine forest. The pine needles coating the ground silenced our footsteps and we enjoyed the early morning quiet of the shady forest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/loudonweb.com\/at\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/04\/IMG_7754-01.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/loudonweb.com\/at\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/04\/IMG_7754-01.jpeg 533w, https:\/\/loudonweb.com\/at\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/04\/IMG_7754-01-200x300.jpeg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then it was down along what must have once been a road but now is a track of uneven rocks. The forecast is for rain tonight and tomorrow so we will enjoy a clean up and break along with a resupply for the next short section. Given I (Ros) have a pain in my calf (? small soleus tear) I am glad that tomorrow&#8217;s hike will be short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the last 100 miles or so we have been bouncing to and fro between N Carolina and Tennessee. The state border runs pretty much along the mountain ridge for quite a distance.
