5400ft ups, 3440ft downs today but it felt like all up, mostly steep! First was up past a pretty waterfall and on up to a mountain top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped at a beautiful grassy view spot for lunch and in the distance we could identify Big Bald Mountain – far away and higher than the morning peak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way up there was by multiple ups and downs and it seemed endless but the spectacular view from the top made it all worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have passed a number of memorial stones on the AT so far but today we saw an engraved stone with a dedication and a blessing from a family who donated this patch to the AT association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This afternoon we passed a groodle hiking and carrying 2 packs – one with his food and one with his poop! His trail name is Wiggle Bottom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we are camped with a few other hikers including another friendly dog called Kiko. Dogs are allowed on a lot of the trail but there are some sections they have to miss. All the dogs on trail that we’ve met have been very well behaved.
